Acolyte Guide: Priest Path and Healing

The Acolyte is one of the seven base classes the Steam store page lists for SpiritVale, paired on this site's class atlas with the Priest advanced specialization. Official notes are unusually specific about the caster route: 0.33.0 buffed two named Priest entries, and 0.34.0 changed healing and damage multipliers inside PvP. This Acolyte guide separates those published statements from community claims about the strongest support setup.

What the official sources confirm about the Acolyte

The Steam store page lists seven base classes — Acolyte, Mage, Summoner, Knight, Warrior, Scout and Rogue — and names eight advanced specializations, with Priest among them. That is the whole of the official class description: the store page publishes no healing formula, no skill list, no stat table and no ranking, so a claim about the best Acolyte build has to be traced to a dated patch note or to your own testing. The practical consequence is that this page is organised around what the notes have actually changed, because those are the only class statements the developer has published.

The 0.33.0 Priest buffs, read precisely

The 0.33.0 Halloween Event notes contain a Priest section headed "Buff up caster priest to be better aligned with current power level after last update". Two entries follow. Exorcism moved from 77% to 100% and lost its damage delay. Dark Priest now converts all holy damage to Shadow, with Shadow Damage moving from +10% to +25%. The wording matters twice over. First, the stated reason is alignment with the current power level after the previous update, which is a correction rather than a claim that the path is now the strongest. Second, one of the two entries is explicitly about a caster route, so a support-focused Acolyte is not automatically the target of the change. Record the patch next to any numbers you take from here, and re-read the note before rebuilding around either entry.

Healing works differently inside PvP after 0.34.0

The 0.34.0 PvP Conquest update states that damage was reduced by 82.5% in PvP and healing by 65% in PvP. It also establishes a PvP channel rule: the last channel of every map is now PvP and Boss enabled, and Gladys gear purchased with Valor is restricted to PvP and GvG modes and maps. The 0.34.1 follow-up raised PvP level scaling from 100 to 150, mainly affecting HP and MP, and disabled the Swift Intervention Grimoire in PvP. For a healer the combination is the important part: a heal that feels generous in a PvE map is being measured against a completely different multiplier inside PvP, so a survivability number from one environment tells you nothing about the other. State which of the two environments any figure came from before comparing it with anything.

The Grimoire that changed who gets the shield

Among the 0.34.0 balance changes is a single line that is easy to skim past: Overflowing Grace Grimoire now provides shielding to the healed target instead of the Priest. That is a change to where the benefit lands, not to its size, and it repositions a defensive tool from self-protection to group protection. The same update disabled the Second Wind Grimoire for Berserker, fixed Hidden Strikes Grimoire, and noted that Perfect gear crafts now carry over Refines and Cards. Treat each of those as a versioned statement about one named item: they are not evidence about Grimoire behaviour in general, and any guide written before October that describes who a Grimoire shields is describing an older version.

Cards the notes document for this path

0.31.0 gives three card entries that touch healing directly. The Acolyte Card accessory grants +5% healing and +5% buff duration. The Priest Card chest, a unique item, grants +1 Matk per 10% Healing, with the Weaver Card Combo adding +1 Skill Splash per 100% Healing. The Priest Master Card head, also unique, grants +2% healing and -2% mp cost per refine. The same patch lists the Dusktome book with Matk +3% per refine, Holy Damage +1% per refine, Holy Wrath autocasting Damnation and Exorcism autocasting Damnation, in three slots. Read the per-refine wording carefully: two of those entries scale with refinement, one is a conditional conversion, and one is a flat pair of bonuses, so the values are not comparable without knowing how far each item has been refined.

Holy damage and element mods in October

The balance note published on 12 October 2026 states that damage to and from element mods no longer works on Players and Summons, and adds that this affects Faith as well. It also records that Paladin High Guard no longer gives Ground Resist, in PvP only. Neither line is a healing change, but both sit in the same balance pass as the Priest entries above and both touch survivability calculations. Because the note is dated and short, the right response is to re-read it in full rather than to infer a wider change from the summary, and to test the result in the environment you actually play — the Paladin entry, for instance, is explicitly marked PvP only.

Advanced Grimoires are crafted, not bought

0.32.0 introduced Advanced Grimoires and states that they are crafted at class masters with the matching artifact set, 25 Masterwork Cores and one corrupted core, and are account bound; 0.33.0 reduced the Masterwork Core cost from 25 to 20. For a support character this makes the Grimoire plan an activity plan rather than a shopping list, because Masterwork Cores come from dismantling advanced artifacts, and advanced artefact boxes drop from A-rank and S-rank maps at a stated 0.1% rate. If a Grimoire sits in your build, the relevant question is how many ranked-map clears that represents, and the artifact sets guide on this site covers that chain.

Leveling, party sharing and a re-check routine

The published EXP rules do not distinguish between classes: the 0.32.0 ranked-map multipliers and the over-level bonus apply to every base class, and the 0.34.0 notes clarify that Each Take pays by damage dealt while Even Share adds +20% EXP and +10% gold and drops per member and shares EXP and gold evenly across the map. A support character that contributes less direct damage should read the Each Take rule closely before joining a group that farms split up. Then keep a short record for every change: patch version, PvE or PvP, the refine level of any card or set involved, and the activity it was meant to solve. When the next note lands, re-read only the entries that mention Priest, Exorcism, Dark Priest, Faith, healing or a named Grimoire — those are the surfaces this path has actually moved on.
